This is my second time visiting this crazy place but the first time experiencing it with people who live here.  Do not buy any travel books or if you did burn them now.  Surfing the net can be helpful but knowing people who live in the area is the best option. Or you can always connect with locals and bombard them with questions. I am lucky enough to have my best friend and his husband (David & Mau) living in this nonstop entertainment art deco city. Staying in an apartment with a stunning view is not helping to get out of the house but I did not get my Gucci sunnies to stay inside.  Here is a list of the best places to visit, even if you are visiting for a weekend.

THE MIAMI MUST LIST

1.Best Pizza in Town – LUCALI

I am not a big fan of pizza but I  do like it if it is really really really good. And this place did not disappoint. Besides, it’s trendy decor and lively atmosphere they serve the most delicious pizza one can imagine. Try it now.

2. Best  ‘Epicurean Love Affair’ –  MARION MIAMI

From Tuesday to Friday they serve a very delicious well-priced Buffet Lunch with oysters, sushi, pasta, meats, fish,  vegetables, a wide selection of sweets and so much more. They also organize a Thursday Soiree with lots of entertainment. Two weeks ago Gypsy Kings lead singer was eating there and at one point he got the microphone and surprised everyone with few of his famous canciónes – “Cuando sei Maria Dolores, cuando sei quei mal d’amore”

3. Best Pre drinks – LAGNIAPPE

I fell in love with this place as soon as I peeked in. It is a very cool concept where they serve great grilled basics with an assortment of Cheeses & Charcuterie in a very large outdoor area with lots of fairy lights. Just like in a supermarket you choose what you want to eat and the chefs will do the rest. There is a great selection of wines too.  While in inside there is a cute eclectic bar with regular Live Bands. When I was there I witnessed a fiercely entertaining band called ‘High and Mighty Brass Band’, playing the best funk, disco, hip-hop, and R&B.

4- Best Museum – PEREZ ART MUSEUM

This is Miami’s flagship art museum. It hosts fantastic modern and contemporary international art. It’s exhibitions emphasize Miami’s diverse community and vital geographic position at the crossroads of the Americas. Most of the museum’s exhibitions are very interactive. There is an amazing outdoor area with spectacular views of Biscayne Bay where you can enjoy the lovely and elaborate hanging gardens.

5-Best Ceviche – SEVICHE

Ceviche is a rare combination of delicate and raw seafood in bold and zesty flavors that actually cook without heat. It is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. All their recipes are made from scratch and the menu is prepared with wellbeing in mind. If you want to go to heaven and back try their salt and caramel cake. This place is truly a culinary mind bomb.

6- Best Latino Club- BAILO NIGHTCLUB

If you are looking for an explosion of a latino fiesta this is the place for you, if you are over 21 that is. Here you find semi-naked and sometimes naked gogo boys, superhot bar staff, eccentric and trashy drag queens, live percussionists, stage shows and nonstop musica latina. I could not see one person who was not dancing. What a fiesta! Que noche loca!

7. Best Theatre Club – EL TUCÁN

You can dine, drink, dance while watching lavish shows in this old style theater ambiance. Drinks are on the expensive side but the entrance is free. For full entertainment, list check out their site.

Miami Music week is here. So no time to waste. The list of parties and events is endless but hey I can always ask a local or a friend.
